Villechaize was of Filipino descent, and from birth, he suffered from a thyroid disorder that stunted his growth, resulting in a dwarf-like stature. Despite his parents&; efforts to treat his condition, Villechaize endured relentless bullying and humiliation at school. To cope with the trauma, he found solace in art, particularly painting.
