JJ Tabane was born to Reverend Matthew Mathethe and Helen Mapako on J. His father is a librarian at Ga-rankuwa Technikon while his mother is a senior lecturer at Hebron College. Hailing from a family that knows the value of education, he underwent a strict educational upbringing.
