George Burns, American comedian who was known for his dry humor, gravelly voice, and ever-present cigar and was popular for more than 70 years in vaudeville, radio, film, and television. He was especially known as part of a popular comedy team with his wife, Gracie Allen, and enjoyed renewed popularity in his 80s.
